The UPSC Prelims Exam: CSAT Question Paper Analysis 2024

The UPSC Prelims Exam Analysis 2024 for GS Papers 1 and 2 is now available. Paper 1 was moderately difficult. In GS Paper 1, most questions were related to geography and the environment. Unlike previous years, candidates were unable to exclude alternatives from Paper 1 using the elimination process. This change in the option format has increased the paper’s difficulty level.

Paper 2, or CSAT, also contained moderate to difficult questions. Some candidates found the Quantitative Aptitude section of the CSAT paper particularly challenging.

The UPSC Prelims Exam 2024 was a pen-and-paper test. The Prelims Paper 1 exam has 200 points, with a deduction of 0.66 marks for each wrong answer. The UPSC Prelims GS-2 consists of 80 questions with a total value of 200 marks, and a deduction of 0.83 marks is made for each incorrect answer.

It is mandatory to attend both of these papers to qualify for the prelims result. CSAT requires a minimum of 33% (66.67 marks) to qualify, while qualification for Paper 1 is based on the cutoff marks (merit list).
